12. 09. 2011 - Czech Airlines’ Flight to Abu Dhabi is a Culinary Experience

Thanks to the cooperation between Czech Airlines and the Kempinski Hotel, Business Class passengers on the Abu Dhabi flight will receive a unique culinary experience.  All of the courses that will be served as part of the in-flight service during the trip to Abu Dhabi were designed by Marek Fichtner, the Executive Chef of the Le Grill Restaurant at the Kempinski Hotel Hybernska Prague.  Passengers will thus be able to taste unique international dishes prepared to the recipes of a leading Czech chef, whose culinary art has been appreciated by senior representatives of foreign governments and members of the Saudi royal family.

Business Class passengers will have a printed menu to consult in order to select from a variety of salads, appetisers, main meals and desserts, as well as breakfasts and cold dishes. Everything is prepared with first-class ingredients and will be accompanied by a selection of superior red and white wines and an extensive selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

All of the items on the menu are prepared by Czech Airlines’ main catering partner, ALPHA FLIGHT, which provides top-level and comprehensive services in air catering and in-flight; and in the United Arab Emirates, the menu preparation is taken care of by Abu Dhabi In-flight Catering.

The demands in terms of the quality of service in Business Class are always increasing.  If we want to do well in the tough competition that prevails on the air carriage market, we must be able to offer our clients something above-standard, which will enhance their satisfaction on long-haul flights, such as that to Abu Dhabi.  Cooperation on the compilation of the menu with one of the best chefs in the country is a logical outcome of that effort, and of the goal of ensuring that passengers feel as good as possible on board Czech Airlines”, says Jiří Marek, Czech Airlines’ Vice President for Sales and Marketing.

Choosing from a range of specialities
The selection of appetisers features, for example, smoked salmon rolls and avocado, grilled aubergine parcels with red tomato pesto, fois gras terrine with apple jelly, celery & grape salad, green asparagus with bresaola and saffron mayonnaise, and beetroot carpaccio with goat cheese praline.  The selection of main courses will include duck breast with pomegranate sauce, stewed cabbage and hasselback potatoes; chicken roulade with spinach, feta cheese, glazed baby patisson and potato purée; beef medallions with forest fruit chutney, roast pumpkin and sweet potatoes; rack of lamb in a saffron crust ratatouille and grilled polenta; veal involtini with bresaola; Emmental cheese and green peppercorns with potatoes au gratin.  As dessert, passengers can taste such delights as an almond cheesecake, chocolate brownies, filo dough apple strudel with aronia berries, or a chocolate tart with cream cheese.

Depending on the rotation of the flight, the service also includes a breakfast or a menu of cold dishes.  This will also comprise a salad, a main course, and a dessert.  For example, passengers can look forward to a Waldorf salad, chicken tortilla with vegetables, and a Pisa pie, or a farfalle salad with dried tomatoes and capers, an Arab Mezze plate, and an almond roulade.  Breakfast includes a rich selection of fruit and vegetable salads, cheese plates, yoghurts, muffins, jams, muesli and cornflakes, or, if passengers prefer, smoked chicken slices with turkey ham and cheese, or mozzarella with smoked salmon and turkey canapés.

Passengers in Economy Class will not be short-changed 
The in-flight service in Economy Class is also broader on this route.  For example, passengers have a choice of two main courses, supplemented with an appetizer, salad, and dessert; and breakfast or cold dishes will be served, depending on whether the flight is in the morning or at night.

Czech Airlines will operate its first flight to Abu Dhabi on Wednesday 21 September 2011.  Tickets to attractive long-haul destinations that Czech Airlines operates in cooperation with Etihad Airways can be purchased through the airline’s websites www.csa.cz and www.czechairlines.com, Czech Airlines’ Call Centre, Czech Airlines’ OK Point network, all contractual and non-contractual IATA vendors, and the airline’s sales offices.
